Eli's third birthday is fast approaching...and it's ON a Saturday this year!
You know what that means?!
Plans for the Third Annual Berkheimer Bash are underway!

SAVE THE DATE: AUGUST 23rd
at around 4:00 pm

Potluck party for adults....and some Cowboy Fun for the kids.
Our neighbors have horses and will be giving horse drawn wagon rides to the kids!
Lots of games and fun.
Great food!

Horse Therapy!

We are very lucky to have a horse therapy program here in Yakima. The Tumbleweed Ranch and Pegasus Project provide "Hippotherapy" for children with special needs. And riding therapy for older kids.

Cowboy Eli did GREAT! His body was so relaxed on Tumbleweed, the POA seen in the picture. Karla, his PT is in white. The other two work at the Ranch or are volunteers. He rode side saddle, laying on his back, laying on his tummy, and sitting up!

The greatest part of all, is when we got him home....he was in such a good mood! He just laughed and laughed and laughed for about an hour. Lonnie and I were beside ourselves.....with JOY! He was such a hoot. We are very thankful for this experience, and cannot wait to see him next time. The session lasts 8 weeks....so, you'll see a lot on the blog in weeks to come.

here's a look back at my Mom and me.

I miss her so much!

I remember laying on the couch for days...and ending up with such a huge knot in my hair at the base of my neck, that mom had to cut the chunk out!

VIDEO - Swimming w/ Laura

Eli does so well in the heated therapy pool at Children's Village. Someday, we hope to have one at home for him.

As you can see in this video, his body is really relaxed. Laura is able to get great stretches out of him, and also movements that he doesn't make "on land". Like here, swaying side to side. That stretches his sides by lengthening them. Good stuff!

Now Lonnie wants to tear up the rest of the carpet in the living room to expose the hardwood underneath.....so Eli has more room to cruise...

Too Tired for Therapy

Eli had PT with Karla at 2:00 pm....and he hadn't had a nap yet.
I wasn't sure how it was gonna go...I just figured he'd be really fussy.
She put his braces on to work on weight bearing in his arms while he kneels forward...and, he IMMEDIATELY fell asleep over her leg!!!

Rolling...over and over and over...

Some of you thought this meant Eli is now crawling all over the house.
THAT IS NOT THE CASE. This, so far, is a one time deal.
He has learned he can roll over and over and over. But doesn't do it very often, and hasn't made it off his mat again, yet. Thanks for being so hopeful for him! Keep praying for him.
He'll be buzzing around someday...we hope. :)

this 2006 Ford Freestar. Love it!

Max had to go check it out...I had to yell at him though...
I thought he was going to pee on the tire! Dang, Dog! :)

(I have always loved St. Patrick's Day! It means Spring! I love green. And my BD is exactly one month way! ok...when I was a kid I loved that part...now I'm freakin' out about turning another year older. Forty is just around the bend...Omigosh!)

I attended my dear friend Cheryl's funeral that day. It was a wonderful service. The highlight for me was when her brother read the last entry in her journal:

"God,
Thank you for my life. Thank you for filling my world with people who love me. Bless my family and friends. Help them to find happiness and contentment. Help me to live my life in Your path, so that I can be a witness to those I love. Give me the wisdom to listen with love and to help when I can. And most of all, give me the courage to always share Your love with others so that we all may be together for eternity. Amen."

Farewell to a Friend

My dear friend, and Sorority Sister, Cheryl Walker passed away this morning after a very long and courageous battle with breast and brain cancer.

I'll never forget all the wonderful sorority trips we took together, so many sorority memories, and our rubberstamping/crafting addiction. :)
